Sourcing

The finest Zambian Emeralds, Burmese Rubies, Ceylon Sapphires, and more – curated with care.

EMERALDS

Emeralds are our specialty. For three generations, Thai Gem Centre has sourced and purveyed highly sought-after emeralds from heritage mines in Zambia and Colombia. Our famous Zambian stones are selected exclusively from KaGem and Grizzly mines, which are prized for their crystalline clarity, brilliant green color, glasslike touch, and complete calibration. To ensure the highest quality, the majority of our Zambian Emeralds are cut by our trusted gem cutters in Jaipur, India and Bangkok, Thailand, before they reach our customers’ hands.

RUBIES

Since 1988, Thai Gem Centre has expanded our gems collection to include rubies, which are sourced from reputed mines in Myanmar, Tanzania, and Mozambique. Each terroir gives its stones different attributes. While Burmese Rubies shine with striking florescence and a famed “pigeon blood” hue, Tanzanian Rubies from Longido mine boast superior strength and color saturation. For quality assurance, the bulk of our rubies are manufactured locally in Chanthaburi, where our inspectors can visit regularly to screen their consistency for our customers.

SAPPHIRES

Since 1988, Thai Gem Centre has expanded our gems collection to include sapphires, which are sourced solely from Sri Lanka and Madagascar. While stones from both islands are often combined due to a similar gradation of color and material quality, Sri Lankan Ceylon Sapphires are distinguished for their shimmering luster and color nuances ranging from pastel to royal blue. To standardize their quality, our sapphires are either manufactured directly at the source in Sri Lanka or post import into Thailand, whichever route is most ideal for a particular shipment.

Sorting

At Thai Gem Centre, we make it our mission to sort our gemstones meticulously during and after each purchase. For us, quality takes precedence over quantity. Hence, we closely examine each and every stone to make sure the cutting and polishing meet our exacting standards. We strictly maintain even sizing in all calibrated parcels and leave no room for faulty defects.

Identifying

Through years of experience, our veteran gem masters have cultivated the rare ability to discern different rankings and categories of stones. Customers can rest assured that stones of different grades and origins will be accurately identified and allocated in their respective parcels or otherwise purposefully combined to suit the customer’s needs.

Cutting

We leave no stone unturned when it comes to cutting and calibrating gems. Whatever different origins our stones might come from, they will be invariably polished and recut through the hands of our expert gem cutters before earning a spot on our shelves.
